Ogun Police Arrest 16 for Bunkering and Defilement

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 16 suspects for various alleged crimes, including illegal petroleum product dealings, vandalism, burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, and defilement, as part of a renewed offensive known as Operation Kosaye. The arrests were made following intelligence-led operations, prompt responses to distress calls, forensic investigations, and coordinated tactical raids across the state.

Items recovered include two vehicles, a stolen motorcycle, four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil, 13 jerry cans of suspected diesel, a pumping machine, and a generator. On July 21, 2026, Saliu Akinwande, 50, was arrested for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl, with the victim receiving medical attention.

Kabiru Afolabi, 51, was also arrested on the same day in connection with a diesel bunkering syndicate. Additionally, on July 12, 2026, Nnabike Uzolo, 26, and Chino Mgbenya, 28, were arrested for vandalizing a telecommunications mast cable.

The police reiterated their commitment to protecting national infrastructure and warned against vandalism.
