Delta Police Arrest Eight in Armed Robbery Crackdown

The Delta State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in connection with armed robbery and cultism as part of a sustained crackdown on violent crime. The operation, led by Bright Edaf, involved collaboration with members of a civilian anti-cult group and was based on credible intelligence received on July 14, 2026.

Among those arrested were Stephen Danladi, 29, from Langtang LGA in Plateau State, and Jude Christian, 26, from Mbaitoli LGA in Imo State. The police recovered two locally made pistols during the operation.

Additionally, Jerri Egenu was arrested for allegedly acting as a gunrunner and receiving stolen property linked to a gang responsible for mobile phone and motorcycle thefts in the Okpanam area. The operation also led to the interception of a silver Lexus RX330 SUV, resulting in the arrest of four suspected cultists and the recovery of a locally made gun and live cartridges.

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) denied any involvement in the investigation of a Bayelsa tricycle rider's death.
