Police Investigate 60-Year-Old Man's Death in Jigawa Hotel

The Jigawa State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the sudden and unnatural death of a 60-year-old man at a hotel in Dutse, reported on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 12:50 p.m. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Adam, the man, who checked in with a 20-year-old woman, experienced a medical emergency after requesting a meal and began gasping for air shortly after it was served.

Police officers from the Yalwawa Division responded to the distress call and transported the victim to the General Hospital, Dutse, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives secured the scene, recovering food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance, and personal effects for examination.

The deceased's remains were released to his family for burial following medical certification of death. The 20-year-old woman is cooperating with investigators to clarify the events leading to the incident.

The Commissioner of Police assured the public of a thorough and impartial investigation.
