Police Investigate Sudden Death of Man in Jigawa Hotel

The Jigawa State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the sudden and unnatural death of a 60-year-old man at a hotel in Dutse, reported on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 12:50 PM. According to the command’s spokesperson, Shi’isu Adam, the man had checked in with a 20-year-old woman and developed a medical emergency shortly after requesting a meal.

He began gasping for air after the meal was served. Police officers from the Yalwawa Division responded quickly to the scene and transported the victim to the General Hospital in Dutse, where he was unfortunately certified dead.

Detectives secured the scene, recovering food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance, and personal effects for further examination. The deceased's remains were released to his family for burial following medical certification of death.

The 20-year-old woman is cooperating with investigators, providing information to clarify the events leading to the incident. The Commissioner of Police assured the public of a thorough and impartial investigation.
