Kwara Police Deny 176 Residents Abducted in Attack

Ojo Adekimi, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, has rejected claims that 176 residents were abducted during a terrorist attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area. Addressing journalists in Ilorin, Adekimi stated that this figure did not come from any official security records.

Although security agencies acknowledged that several residents were taken, there was no confirmation of the number being 176. The police commissioner noted that the figure likely emerged after a video surfaced showing abducted individuals claiming to be over a hundred.

Residents identified only about ten victims from the video, including the wife of the traditional ruler. Adekimi insisted that the police would not rely on numbers propagated by the terrorists and assured that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of those still in captivity.

He also mentioned that security operations have shifted focus to suspected terrorist bases in Borgu, Oyo State, where groups like Lakurawa, Ansaru, and Boko Haram are believed to be operating.
