Enugu Police Rescue Trafficking Victim from Mali in Raid

The Enugu State Police Command conducted a successful raid, rescuing a 25-year-old woman who was trafficked from Mali and forced into prostitution. The victim's ordeal began when she was deceived by a trafficking syndicate led by a 69-year-old suspect, Mr.

Ez Boniface. The victim's parents had lodged a complaint, leading to Boniface's arrest.

Investigations revealed that the victim was promised a job abroad but was instead trafficked to Mali, where she was exploited for sex work. The syndicate reportedly made at least 500,000 CFA francs from exploiting the victim.

Following the rescue, Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitru Giwa, ordered an expanded investigation to dismantle the trafficking network. Residents, especially young people and families, were cautioned to be wary of fraudulent job offers promising a better life abroad to avoid falling victim to human trafficking schemes.
