Police Rescue Pregnant Teen, Arrest Suspect in Anambra

On June 17, 2026, the Anambra State Police Command conducted a raid around St. Paul's Secondary School in Achalla, Awka North Local Government Area, leading to the rescue of a 15-year-old pregnant girl.

The operation was led by Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson, who confirmed the arrest of Tochukwu Nwora for alleged child exploitation and sexual abuse. Preliminary investigations indicated that the victim had been subjected to abuse by several adult males over time in various locations, including Nando, Nteje, and Oyi Local Government Area.

The suspect allegedly took advantage of the teenager's vulnerable condition, offering her small sums of money. Following her rescue, the victim was placed in protective custody and taken to a hospital in Awka for necessary medical evaluation and care.

The police condemned all forms of child abuse and exploitation, assuring the public of their commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and ensuring justice for victims.
