Bauchi Police Warn Youths Against Thuggery and Cybercrime

On Thursday, during an event organized by the Bauchi State Police Command to commemorate the 2026 International Youth Day, Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu cautioned youths against being exploited by politicians for political thuggery and cybercrime. The event, themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” featured a campaign titled “My Future Is Greater Than Political Thuggery.” Aliyu emphasized that the initiative demonstrates the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to engaging with youths and protecting them from exploitation.

He stated, “Our youths are not the problem; they are the solution,” highlighting their potential as innovators and leaders. The campaign aims to educate youths on the dangers of thuggery, empower them to recognize their potential, and encourage active participation in community safety.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Muhammad Ahmadu also addressed the youths, identifying factors such as economic hardship and peer pressure that make them vulnerable to exploitation. He warned against accepting money from politicians for electoral violence, stating that such individuals would be discarded after their objectives are achieved.
