Thugs Attack PDP Rally in Ebonyi, Injuring Members and Journalists

In Ebonyi State, over 50 thugs, believed to be affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), disrupted a rally organized by People Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Mr. Ifeanyi Nworie, who was announcing his defection from APC to PDP.

The incident occurred at Ikwuato Idembia in Ezza South Local Government Area, resulting in injuries to 10 PDP members and attacks on journalists covering the event. The thugs violently interrupted the rally, damaging property including plastic chairs and canopies.

Following the attack, PDP Chairman Mr. Chukwuma Igwe held a press conference in Abakaliki, condemning the violence as an assault on democracy and calling for intervention from security agencies including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Igwe reported that several PDP supporters had faced threats from APC members in recent weeks, with eight individuals requiring hospital treatment due to the violence. He urged security agencies to uphold their constitutional duties to protect citizens and ensure a fair political environment.
