Osun APC Faces Internal Crisis After Election Defeat

The August 15 governorship election defeat has led to a significant crisis within the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Governor Ademola Adeleke won the election with 511,067 votes against Bola Oyebamiji's 444,815.

Following the loss, party leaders and supporters have engaged in a blame game, particularly targeting Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, for his perceived role in the defeat. Critics accuse Oyetola of imposing Oyebamiji as the APC candidate and of making federal appointments that favored his faction.

They argue that Oyetola's lack of active campaigning for Oyebamiji contributed to the party's poor performance. Conversely, Oyetola's supporters, including Olalekan Badmus, defend his leadership, claiming he has been instrumental in maintaining party unity and funding.

Kayode Oduwoye, a prominent APC member, called for unity among party members, emphasizing that no single individual can secure victory alone.
