Premier League Breaks Transfer Record with £3.46bn Spending

Premier League clubs have achieved an all-time record in summer transfer spending, totaling £3.46 billion during the recent transfer window. This figure surpasses the previous record of £3.14 billion set the previous year and was bolstered by £475 million spent on deadline day, compared to £391 million the prior year.

The spending reflects a significant increase from £1.13 billion five years ago, showcasing the financial strength of the Premier League. Manchester City emerged as the biggest spenders, confirming the signing of Fernandez, bringing their total to £458 million under new boss Enzo Maresca, surpassing Liverpool's previous record of £415 million.

Chelsea followed with £349 million in spending but achieved a net profit of £33 million after selling £382 million worth of players. Tottenham spent £302 million, while newly-promoted Ipswich invested £171 million, outpacing Manchester United's £148 million in new signings.
