Presidency Donates N50m to Combat School Social Vices

The Presidency has announced its support for a campaign against social vices in schools, donating N50 million to a special committee chaired by Prof. Jerri Ugokw.

This announcement was made by Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, during a meeting at the State House in Abuja. The donation will be released in two tranches, starting with N25 million.

Gbajabiamila highlighted the urgent need to address the rising social vices among youth, which he described as a growing concern for the nation. He emphasized that tackling these issues requires a collective societal approach involving parents, teachers, religious leaders, and community institutions.

The committee's mandate includes identifying and addressing social vices in schools, promoting discipline, and collaborating with security agencies to combat issues like cultism and drug abuse. The committee has already engaged with federal ministries and plans to conduct nationwide campaigns, with a focus on student welfare and academic excellence.
