Tinubu's Administration Invests $2B in North West Rail Project

The Nigerian presidency, through Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Special Duties, Tunde Rahman, emphasized that President Bola Tinubu is not neglecting the North West region. During a media briefing in Abuja, it was announced that significant investments have been made in health and transport infrastructure, including a $2 billion standard gauge rail project linking Kano to Maradi, which is currently 60% complete.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to counter perceptions that the administration has not fulfilled its promises to the region. The project is expected to enhance the transport network and health facilities.

Finbarr Zirra, Director of Rail Transport Services at the Federal Ministry of Transport, provided details on the ongoing rail projects, noting that the Kano-Katsina-Maradi extension is approximately 400 kilometers long and is the largest ongoing rail investment in the North West. The completion of these projects is anticipated to significantly improve transportation and connectivity in the region.
