Tinubu Reaffirms No-Ransom Policy, Enhances Security Strategy

On Thursday, President Tinubu received traditional rulers from Oyo State, led by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, at the State House in Abuja. He reaffirmed the Federal Government's no-ransom policy regarding kidnappers, specifically mentioning the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, where the abductors demanded ransom and the release of detained accomplices.

President Tinubu commended the Armed Forces for their professionalism and bravery in a recent successful rescue operation. He announced plans to restructure Nigeria's security architecture by expanding the Nigerian Army from eight to twelve divisions to improve operational coverage and response times.

Additionally, he emphasized strengthening local security structures, including the establishment of state police and enhancing forest guards' operational capacity. The President urged traditional rulers to mobilize communities for vigilance and intelligence gathering to combat insecurity effectively.
