ASUU to Investigate Alleged Mismanagement of TETFund

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has received consent from the federal government to probe vice chancellors of public universities regarding alleged corrupt management of TETFund allocations. Dr.

Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, highlighted the necessity of this investigation due to significant mismanagement of funds since TETFund's establishment in 1993. ASUU President Prof.

Chris Piwuna emphasized the need for transparency, citing that funds meant for specific projects are often diverted to non-approved areas, leading to project stalls. The investigation aims to address issues such as the failure of institutions to account for previous allocations and the alleged misappropriation of approximately N7.6 billion related to an ICT project in 2023.

The government has committed to working with ASUU to promote accountability and transparency in fund management, including the establishment of a public tracker for fund disbursements.
