Aliou Cissé Resigns as Head Coach of Libyan Team

Aliou Cissé has stepped down as the head coach of the Libyan National Football Team after a brief tenure of just 10 matches. His resignation was confirmed on Wednesday.

Cissé's last two matches with Libya were friendly games against Niger and Liberia in March, both of which ended in draws. Cissé has a notable coaching background, having led the Senegal national team for nearly a decade from 2015 to 2024, during which he secured Senegal's first Africa Cup of Nations title in 2021 and finished as a runner-up in 2019.

Under his leadership, the Libyan team struggled, failing to qualify for the World Cup, finishing third in their qualifying group behind Cameroon and Cape Verde.
