Radda Commits to Ending Water Scarcity in Katsina

On Thursday, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda vowed to address water scarcity across the state by sustaining investments in water infrastructure. He made this pledge during the commissioning of the Tsagero small town water supply scheme in Rimi Local Government Area.

Radda described access to clean water as a basic human necessity and a key driver of public health and economic growth. He disclosed that 32 out of 66 small town water supply schemes have been awarded and are either operational or ready for commissioning.

The Tsagero water scheme aims to provide potable water to households, schools, healthcare facilities, and businesses, thereby reducing the burden of water collection, especially for women and children. Radda noted that the state government is implementing several interventions to strengthen water supply, including the multi-billion naira Zobe water supply project and the rehabilitation of major water infrastructure.

He urged residents of Tsagero to take ownership of the facilities to ensure sustainability.
