Northern Group Defends NNPC Recruitment Against Division

A northern forum, led by Aliyu Muhammad, has issued a warning against attempts to create division in Nigeria over the recruitment processes at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd). The forum addressed a press conference in Kaduna, stating that recent reports alleging irregularities in NNPC's recruitment are misleading and do not reflect the company's true position.

Muhammad clarified that NNPC Ltd has not suspended recruitment for senior management staff, which is set to be publicly announced in the third quarter of 2025. He explained that the recruitment process is merit-driven and aims to fill critical vacancies.

The forum also rejected claims linking recruitment to an employee exit scheme set for June 30, 2026, and emphasized that NNPC's funding for oil exploration in Northern Nigeria remains intact. They urged Nigerians to verify information through official channels to avoid spreading unverified claims that could undermine national cohesion.

The group commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for strengthening the legal and policy framework supporting NNPC Ltd.
