Peter Obi Authorizes Release of Academic Records

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has authorized the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and other academic institutions he attended to publicly release his academic certificates. This decision follows a legal suit filed by Labour Party chieftain Abayomi Arabambi, who is seeking a court order to compel UNN to provide certified true copies of Obi's Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy awarded in 1984.

In a statement released in Awka by his media aide, Valentine Obienyem, Obi expressed his willingness for public scrutiny of his academic credentials, stating that such transparency is essential for democratic processes. He emphasized that all public office seekers should be prepared for reasonable scrutiny and should disclose their educational qualifications to strengthen public confidence and accountability.

Obi also called on other presidential candidates to make their academic records available for legitimate public scrutiny, reinforcing the values of transparency, integrity, and accountability in leadership.
