NANS Urges UNILAG to Reopen Course Registration Portal

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has made an appeal to the management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to reopen its school fees payment and course registration portal for 48 hours. This request comes in light of the portal's closure on June 21, despite examinations scheduled to commence on August 10.

NANS President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, described the closure as unfortunate, especially as many students are facing economic challenges. He emphasized that numerous students who were attempting to raise funds for their school fees have been excluded from the registration process, jeopardizing their academic futures.

NANS acknowledged that while universities have the authority to set registration timelines, such decisions should consider the financial difficulties students face. The association also referenced the Federal Government's introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a commitment to enhancing educational access.

NANS urged the university to act with empathy to prevent deserving students from losing an academic session due to circumstances beyond their control.
