Ogun State Drivers Protest Low Fares with Shutdown

On Monday, March 16, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, ride-hailing drivers in Ogun State, organized by the Amalgam Union of App-Based Transport Nigeria, will shut down operations to protest against low fares and increasing operational costs. Comrade Yusuf Bamidel, a representative of the union, emphasized the need for unity among drivers and urged them to refrain from completing trips during the shutdown period.

This action aims to highlight the severe challenges faced by app-based drivers across Nigeria, including safety and security concerns. The union has previously criticized the poor welfare conditions in the sector, attributing them to the low fare structures imposed by ride-hailing companies.
