Rivers Assembly Probes Funding of PAMO University

The Rivers State House of Assembly has initiated an investigation into the financial support provided by the state government to PAMO University of Medical Sciences (PUMS) since its establishment in 2017. This decision was announced by Hon. Enemi Alabo George, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information.

The investigation follows the formation of a seven-member Ad-Hoc Committee by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule.

The committee, chaired by Rt. Hon. Dumle Maol, is tasked with determining the total amount of funds allocated to PUMS and assessing whether these funds were utilized appropriately.

Additionally, the committee will review the university's scholarship scheme, identifying beneficiaries and examining related issues concerning the funding. The committee has been mandated to submit its findings by September 30, 2026, under Section 128 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
