Rivers Police Enforce Movement Restrictions for By-Election

The Rivers State Police Command, represented by CSP Grace Iring Koko, issued a statement on Friday regarding movement restrictions in Ahoada East and Khana Local Government Areas. The restrictions will be in effect from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on the day of the by-election.

This measure aims to prevent any disruptions to the electoral process and ensure a peaceful, free, fair, and credible election. The police will deploy personnel strategically to maintain law and order and protect lives and property during this period.

Citizens are advised to comply with the movement restrictions to avoid unnecessary gatherings around polling units and to refrain from carrying weapons or suspicious items. CP Olugbenga Adepoju urged political parties and candidates to promote peace and adhere to the provisions of the electoral act.

Individuals or groups violating the restrictions may face arrest and prosecution. The police also cautioned parents to keep their children safe from political violence during the election.
