Rivers Man Arrested After Lover Dies from Assault

Simpli Richard was arrested by the Rivers State Police Command after the death of his lover, Carolin Sundai Dure, following an alleged assault during a domestic dispute in Eneka, Obio Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State. The incident reportedly took place on a Saturday when Richard confronted Dure over suspicions of infidelity.

During the argument, it is alleged that Dure denied the accusations, which escalated into a physical altercation. Dure fell and struck her head against a sharp edge of a wall, resulting in severe injuries.

Neighbors heard her screams and rushed to the scene, finding her lying in a pool of blood. Despite efforts to revive her, she was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The police were alerted, and upon arrival, they found Richard restrained by angry residents. He is currently in police custody as investigations continue to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The deceased's body has been deposited at the mortuary.
