APR Withdraws from 2026 Basketball Africa League Season

The Rwandan basketball powerhouse APR has officially withdrawn from the 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL) season. This decision means that the Kigali-based club will no longer participate in this year's competition, which is set to commence on March 27 in South Africa.

The withdrawal has prompted BAL organizers to seek a replacement team to ensure that the competition format remains unchanged. Initially, APR was expected to represent Rwanda in the conference stage of the tournament.

However, the withdrawal occurred due to last-minute adjustments in the tournament lineup. The 2026 BAL season will feature teams from across Africa competing in different conference phases, ultimately advancing to the playoffs to determine the continent's champion.
