Sanwo-Olu Orders Manhunt for Lagos Bridge Vandals

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed security agencies to pursue and prosecute individuals involved in the vandalism of the Festac-Alakija Bridge. In a statement released on X by the Lagos State Government on Friday, Sanwo-Olu condemned the vandalism as a direct attack on the state's socio-economic assets and emphasized a zero-tolerance policy against public property destruction.

He stated that anyone found culpable in this "horrendous, shameful and condemnable incident" will face legal consequences. The governor reassured commuters and residents regarding the bridge's safety, confirming that technical assessments by state engineers indicated no compromise to its structural integrity.

He announced that immediate remedial work would be undertaken to protect the bridge's columns. Sanwo-Olu urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around public utilities, asserting that Lagos has no place for vandalism and violence against critical infrastructure.

Recently, 27 suspects linked to the bridge's vandalism were apprehended during a midnight enforcement operation.
