Lagos Arrests Suspect for Vandalising Road Barrier

The Lagos State Government has arrested a suspect for vandalising a concrete barrier designed to prevent pedestrians from crossing the expressway at unauthorised points at Kosofe Bus Stop, Mile 12, along the Ikorodu Road. Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, announced the arrest in a post on X on Saturday, stating that it followed monitoring and enforcement operations conducted the previous day.

The suspect was apprehended while deliberately removing iron rods, cables, steel reinforcements, and other essential components that ensure the stability and effectiveness of the barrier. Wahab confirmed that the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law, emphasizing the Lagos State Government's commitment to safeguarding public infrastructure and ensuring the safety of road users and residents.

This arrest is part of ongoing efforts to combat vandalism, which has raised concerns about safety and the waste of public resources.
