Abuja Homeowners Seek Wike's Help Against Security Threats

Homeowners in the Dr. Sam Nujoma Estate, Galadimawa, Abuja, have formally appealed to Minister Nyesom Wike for assistance regarding security threats and extortion from officials of El Salem Nigeria Limited.

The residents, represented by Ifeanyi Echefu, claim that the officials are unlawfully managing the land, despite the homeowners having legitimately purchased it. They allege that the officials have instigated private guards to threaten and assault them.

The land in question, Plot 21 in Cadastral Zone C17, was originally allocated to the African University of Science and Technology in 2007. The homeowners have requested that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) help them secure their rights and obtain occupancy certificates.

Joseph Eriki, a director at FCTA, has advised the police to arrest any officials of El Salem claiming approval for educational purposes, as the university allegedly changed land use without government consent. Adekoya Seyi from the African University of Science and Technology stated that discussions are ongoing to resolve the matter.
