Aro Sues APC, INEC Over Kogi West Primary Election

Mr. Samuel Aro has initiated legal action at the Federal High Court, Lokoja Division, against the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Sunday Karimi, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the Kogi West Senatorial District primary election.

Aro challenges the validity of the APC's submission of Karimi’s name to INEC, asserting that the primary held on May 18, 2026, rightfully declared him the winner. He seeks a court declaration that the submission of Karimi’s name on July 11, 2026, is null and void, and demands recognition as the lawful APC candidate since he has not withdrawn his candidacy.

The primary election, which Karimi won with 51,665 votes, has been mired in controversy, with allegations of falsified results. The APC National Working Committee affirmed Karimi's candidacy following a report from the Election Appeal Committee, leading to ongoing tensions among party leaders and supporters in Kogi West.
