Seplat Energy Launches Free Eye Care Initiative in Akwa Ibom

Seplat Energy Plc, in collaboration with the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has initiated a free eye care program named "Eye Can See," targeting over 6,000 individuals in the oil host communities of Uyo, Eket, and Ibeno in Akwa Ibom State. The program, which is part of Seplat's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), will offer eye screenings, treatments, reading glasses, and sight-restoring surgeries.
Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, Chairman of Seplat Energy Plc, emphasized that this initiative fulfills a commitment made to the Akwa Ibom State government following Seplat's acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited assets. The program aims to address community health needs and enhance opportunities for individuals with vision impairments.
Engr. Effiong U. Okon, CEO of Seplat Energy, noted that the initiative has been active since 2012 and has previously screened over 130,000 patients, distributed more than 67,000 pairs of glasses, and performed over 5,300 surgeries.
