Seven Dead in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

On Monday, a multiple road crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway resulted in the deaths of seven individuals and injuries to two others. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, reported that the crash occurred around 12:03 am and involved a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC truck, a white MACK trailer, and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number JJJ920YA.

All nine victims were male. The FRSC received the report at 12:04 am and arrived at the scene by 12:09 am.

Preliminary investigations indicated that a speed violation was the probable cause of the fatal incident, which has been classified as a multiple road traffic crash. The deceased were evacuated by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the injured were taken for medical treatment.

The crashed vehicles were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Ibafo for further action. Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi urged motorists, especially drivers of articulated vehicles, to avoid excessive speeding and maintain safe following distances, particularly at night.
