SGF Calls for Justice in MACBAN Chairman's Murder

Georg Akum, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, expressed outrage over the killing of Alhaji Ardo Risku, the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN). In a statement made by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yomi Odunuga, Akum described the murder as a direct assault on peace and reconciliation efforts in Benue State.

He urged the Nigeria Police Force and relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators. The police have reported the arrest of ten suspects in connection with the murder, which occurred during a period of improving security in the state.

Akum emphasized the need for communities to reject attempts by criminal elements to sow discord and violence. The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) also condemned the killing, describing it as a significant setback to peacebuilding efforts in the state.
