PDP and LP Lawmakers Defect to Action Peoples Party

On Tuesday, during a plenary session, lawmakers Ikenga Ugochinyere and Mathew Nwaogu formally announced their defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) to the Action Peoples Party (APP). They cited internal crises within their former parties and issues that hindered effective participation as primary reasons for their departure.

Ugochinyere, who was elected on the PDP platform, and Nwaogu, formerly of the LP, submitted their resignation letters to the House Speaker, Abba Tajudeen. The national chairman of APP, Uch Nnadi, welcomed the defectors, describing their move as a bold step towards strengthening democratic ideals and enhancing legislative effectiveness.

Nnadi expressed confidence that the addition of these two lawmakers would significantly boost the party's influence within the National Assembly and reaffirmed APP's commitment to providing a credible platform focused on people-oriented governance.
