Rivers CP Calls for Unity Against Youth Crime in Rivers

Olugbenga Adepoju, the Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, called for a collective effort from parents, teachers, and religious leaders to combat drug abuse and cultism among youth. During the relaunch of a state-wide police campaign against cultism in Port Harcourt, Adepoju highlighted the dangers of cultism, which deceives young people with false promises of friendship and wealth, often leading to violence and regret.

He emphasized the need for proper engagement with stakeholders to monitor children's activities and guide them towards positive values. Adepoju encouraged parents to be vigilant and to foster mentorship and vocational opportunities for youth.

He also noted the importance of community involvement in creating a crime-free society, urging a partnership with businesses and public members. The POCACOV initiative, which has been active for years, was reiterated as a crucial component in curbing crime and drug abuse in the state.
