Shettima Advocates Selfless Leadership Beyond Elections

On Monday in Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima called for selfless leadership among Nigerian leaders during the public presentation of "Service and Impact," a book about Brigadier Musa Usman (rtd), who served as military governor of the then North-Eastern State from May 27, 1966, to July 25, 1975. Represented by his aide, Aliyu Mudibo, Shettima stressed that a leader's legacy should be measured by the institutions they create and the lives they improve, rather than their time in office.

He identified critical areas needing commitment, including reconstruction, agriculture, education, and security. Shettima praised Usman’s contributions to the development of Maiduguri and the North-East, highlighting his role in establishing infrastructure and fostering community cooperation.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum also spoke, noting Usman's integrity and impactful governance, which laid foundations in education, healthcare, and the economy for the region.
