TCN Reports Vandalism of Six Transmission Towers

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced that six transmission towers, specifically towers T125 and T130 along the Apir-Lafia 330KV transmission line II, were vandalized and collapsed during a heavy downpour on May 30, 2026. Following the incident, which caused a trip failure, TCN initiated a physical line trace to determine the fault, confirming critical damage to the towers.

The company has begun efforts to restore service, with engineers mobilized to assess the extent of the damage and ascertain the materials required for reconstruction. Meanwhile, the Lafia 330KV transmission station is supplying the Lafia-Jos transmission line as a temporary measure to minimize the impact of the outage on electricity customers in the franchise area.

Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, condemned the vandalism, calling it a nefarious act and appealing to host communities and the general public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to protect the company’s installations.
