ADC Candidate Dan’iya Critiques Government on Insecurity

Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, condemned both the Federal Government and the Sokoto State Government for the deteriorating security situation in the state. His remarks followed the reported abduction of more than 50 residents from Garin Idi, the hometown of Deputy Governor Idris Mohammed Gobir.

Dan’iya stated that the incident underscored the increasing danger faced by communities, including those associated with high-ranking officials. He pointed out that the recurring kidnappings and attacks reflect the government's failure to protect citizens as mandated by Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution.

He expressed alarm over reports of residents negotiating with bandits for the release of abducted individuals, indicating a desperate situation. Dan’iya urged the government to reassess its security strategy, enhance collaboration with security agencies, and ensure a stronger presence in vulnerable areas.

He criticized the Sokoto State Government's inadequate response to ongoing attacks and called for decisive action against armed groups.
