Sokoto Assembly Confirms Two Commissioner-Nominees

On Thursday, during its plenary session, the Sokoto State House of Assembly confirmed the appointments of two commissioner-nominees, Alhaji Nura Tangaza and Dr. Bashir Achida, following a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Bello Idris of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The nominations were submitted by Governor Ahmadu Aliyu in accordance with Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and were described as individuals of proven integrity committed to serving the state and nation.

The assembly also adopted its legislative calendar for the fourth session, which will cover the period from June 23, 2026, to May 27, 2027. The calendar was approved unanimously after a motion by Kabiru Dauda, also of the APC.

The assembly is scheduled to sit for 184 days and will observe recesses for various religious and electoral activities, including the 2027 general elections.
