General Faruk Yahaya Launches Wamakko-Bunkari Road Project

On Saturday, General Faruk Yahaya (rtd), the former Chief of Army Staff, flagged off the construction of the 27-kilometer Wamakko-Bunkari road project in Sokoto State. He commended Governor Ahmadu Aliyu for his foresight in initiating the project, which aims to promote overall development in the state.

Upon completion, the road is expected to enhance trade, agriculture, and social integration within surrounding communities. The project, which is jointly funded by the World Bank, the French Development Agency (AFD), and the Sokoto State government, has a total cost of N10,472,863,052.04.

Governor Aliyu expressed optimism that the road would improve access to markets and stimulate economic growth. He urged the project contractor and team to ensure timely completion and warned against laxity.

The project also includes an adequate drainage system to prevent flooding and enhance road durability. Notable figures, including Malami Muhammad Galad and Sultan Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, praised the governor for his commitment to development projects across the state.
