Sokoto PDP Factions Clash Over Abuja Convention Attendance

A division has surfaced within the Sokoto State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) concerning attendance at the national convention in Abuja. Barrister Hassan Ismaila Sundai has asserted that true stakeholders from Sokoto State should fully participate in the convention, countering claims from the state leadership that they would boycott the event due to internal disagreements within the national party leadership.

Ismaila Sundai dismissed reports of Sokoto's delegation being absent as completely false and misleading, emphasizing that loyal PDP members from Sokoto are fully engaged in the convention processes. He criticized the state leadership's earlier statement about non-attendance, attributing it to a shift in allegiance towards the African Democratic Congress, which he claimed undermines the PDP's integrity.

Furthermore, he highlighted controversies surrounding delegation participation and the implications of the amended electoral act, which emphasizes party membership over delegation status. Ismaila Sundai called on national PDP leadership to disregard the notion of non-participation from Sokoto.
