Sokoto State University to Clear Convocation Backlog

The Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University announced plans to clear a five-year backlog of convocation ceremonies, which have not been held since the 2019/2020 academic session. This backlog has left graduates without certificates, impacting their employment and further education opportunities.

The Vice Chancellor stated that it is unfair for graduates to wait long for their certificates and emphasized the need to return to an annual convocation system. The university aims to ensure that every graduate receives a certificate, which will include modern security features to prevent forgery.

The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Sokoto state government, led by Governor Ahm Aliyu, for financial support and additional funding to facilitate the upcoming ceremonies. Furthermore, the university is working to enhance its profile and attract international partnerships, including interest from the Turkish embassy for collaboration.

The Vice Chancellor assured stakeholders that preparations for the convocation are underway and that the event will be a celebration for graduates.
