Soldier Felix Adem Isaac Buried with Military Honors

Lieutenant Felix Adem Isaac, a 28-year-old officer in the Nigerian Army, was laid to rest with full military honors on July 10, 2026, at the 23 Armoured Brigade Cemetery in Yola, Adamawa State. He paid the ultimate price during a rescue operation aimed at freeing 44 teachers and schoolchildren abducted by gunmen in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, on May 15, 2026.

Reports indicate that his convoy struck an explosive device planted by terrorists within the Old Oyo National Park. Despite the grave risks, Lieutenant Isaac led the first wave of troops to breach the forest stronghold where the hostages were held, facilitating a successful rescue operation.

The Nigerian Army acknowledged the sacrifices made by security personnel during the operation, which was carefully planned to avoid collateral damage while ensuring the safety of the children and teachers. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde expressed gratitude for the safe return of the abducted individuals and paid tribute to the fallen security personnel.
