Nigerian Troops Clash with Bandits Near Kebbi Communities

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA under the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army engaged more than 200 suspected bandits along the Kebbi-Zamfara border. The bandits, mobilized on motorcycles, were reportedly advancing towards communities in Kebbi State when the troops intervened.

Olayinka Osoba, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the ongoing operation, stating that specific details were withheld to avoid compromising the engagement. Ground troops are supported by the air component of the Nigerian Air Force to prevent the bandits from entering Kebbi communities.

Vulnerable areas identified include Gadar Zaima in the northern part of Zuru Emirate, as well as Onashi and Mai Rairai in the southern axis, which have faced threats from Zamfara. This confrontation is part of continued military efforts to secure the Kebbi-Zamfara corridor against armed groups operating in Zamfara.
