Nigerian Army Recovers Weapons in Rivers State Raid

On July 23, 2026, the Nigerian Army conducted a precision intelligence-led operation in Rivers State, targeting a suspected criminal hideout at Awara Community Waterside in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area. This operation was executed by troops from Sector 4 of the Joint Task Force South-East, under Operation UDO KA.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops raided a forest enclave believed to be used by criminal elements for planning kidnappings and attacks against security personnel and civilians. During the operation, the troops recovered one Lee-Enfield MK I rifle, one G3 rifle, 116 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

This marks the fourth successful seizure of illegal arms and ammunition by the troops within two weeks, showcasing the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and collaboration with other security agencies and the public.
