NIMC and Solid Minerals Ministry Partner for Governance

The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, represented by Minister Dele Alak, is partnering with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to promote technology-driven governance in Nigeria's solid minerals sector. During a recent courtesy visit in Abuja, Alak emphasized the necessity of a credible identification management system for effective governance and investment regulation.

He noted that reliable data is essential for planning and enhancing national security. The ongoing reforms in the solid minerals sector require robust collaboration with institutions like NIMC to improve transparency and accountability across the mining value chain.

Dr. Abisoy Coker Odusote, Director General and CEO of NIMC, highlighted the opportunities for collaboration, particularly following the enactment of the NIMC Act 2026, which aims to strengthen Nigeria's digital identification ecosystem.

This act is expected to enhance inter-agency data integration and improve public service delivery, thereby contributing to sustainable development in Nigeria's mining sector.
