Ministry and NIMC Collaborate for Tech-Driven Governance

The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, led by Minister Dele Alak, has partnered with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to advance technology-driven governance in Nigeria. During a courtesy visit to the NIMC office in Abuja, Alak emphasized the importance of a credible identity management system for effective governance and national security.

He noted that reliable data is essential for planning, regulation, and investment in the solid minerals sector. The collaboration aims to enhance transparency and accountability across the mining value chain, addressing issues of illegal operations.

Dr. Abisoy Coker Odusote, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, highlighted the opportunities for collaboration under the newly enacted NIMC Act of 2026, which provides a stronger legal framework for Nigeria's digital identity ecosystem.

This act is expected to accelerate secure identity verification and improve inter-agency data integration, ultimately fostering greater transparency and accountability in public administration.
