Kanu's Lawyer Asserts No Executive Order Can End Sit-at-Home Protest in South East Nigeria

Aloy Ejimakor, the lawyer representing Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), stated that the weekly sit-at-home protest in the South East will continue until Kanu is freed from prison. Ejimakor emphasized that no executive order can halt the protest, indicating that it will only cease once Kanu regains his freedom.

The lawyer's remarks come amidst efforts by the Anambra State government to enforce normal business activities, including the recent closure of the Onitsha main market by Governor Chukwuma Soludo due to traders' non-compliance with the sit-at-home order. Ejimakor highlighted the discontent among the Igbo people, attributing the ongoing protest to Kanu's imprisonment.

He insisted that the sit-at-home action will persist until Kanu is released, emphasizing that government directives alone cannot end the protest.
