Cross River Lawmaker Reveals Son Killed Father Under Drug Influence

During a plenary session, Cyril Omini, a lawmaker representing Yakurr State Constituency in Cross River State, disclosed that a young man named Bassey Ubi killed his father while under the influence of drugs. The incident, where the young man used a machete to decapitate his father, occurred in Usaja Ikpakapit Ward, Ugep, Cross River State.

Omini emphasized the need for the state security adviser, Major Gen. Ubi (RTD), to increase efforts to eradicate drug abuse, as drug influence among young people is becoming prevalent.

The 23-year-old son committed the crime after returning from church on a Sunday. The Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed the incident.
