Sowore Returns to Nigeria to Launch 2027 Campaign

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), returned to Nigeria from the United States on Sunday to resume his 2027 presidential campaign after being away for more than 20 months. He stated that his absence was due to arrests, detention, travel restrictions, and the seizure of his international passport by Nigerian security agencies.

During his time in the U.S., Sowore engaged with Nigerians in the diaspora, participated in a solidarity march for Palestine, and advocated for voting rights for Nigerians living abroad. He emphasized his commitment to implementing diaspora voting if elected in 2027.

Upon his return, Sowore is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos before heading to Abuja. He will also attend court proceedings related to a cybercrime case against him by the Department of State Services from 2025.

His campaign will focus on engaging various demographics across Nigeria on political, social, and economic issues as the 2027 election approaches.
