Sowore Promises No Foreign Medical Treatment if Elected

Omoyele Sowore, the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, declared during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today that he would not travel abroad for medical treatment if elected President of Nigeria. He stated, “Any sickness that I can’t treat in Nigeria when I become president should better kill me.” Sowore's comments reflect ongoing debates about Nigerian political leaders seeking medical care outside the country while local healthcare facilities struggle with funding and infrastructure.

He pledged to lead by example, focusing on improving healthcare in Nigeria rather than seeking personal convenience abroad. Additionally, Sowore addressed the role of the First Lady, asserting that he would not establish this position as it is not recognized in the Nigerian Constitution.

He emphasized that his presidency would prioritize public service and accountability in managing government resources, distancing himself from practices that benefit personal and family interests.
